Crystal of the Month - Amazonite

In these trying times, we could all use a little hope. Therefore, for the month of June, we’re telling you a little bit about Amazonite, which is known to some as the ‘hope stone’. It’s said that this stone can make you think of a Spring day and a blue sky and instill hope and faith.

As far back as the times of the ancient Egyptians, Amazonite was a class separator; it’s beautiful green-blue color made it a stone of luxury and a symbol of status. The famous gold mask of Pharaoh Tutankhamen is adorned with Amazonite along with Lapis Lazuli and Carnelian, and the combination of these stones brought rich color to the pyramids. To the ancient Indians, it was regarded as a good luck charm and was often worn in earrings, pendants, and stones were set into rings.

It’s been thought that the stone, with its soothing and tranquil colors, can mollify the spirit and calm the soul, much like looking at its namesake – the Amazon River – might be able to. Though it could be calming to look at, its energy is also extraordinarily strong and bold like that of the Amazon warriors it is connected to. It’s a great stone for tempering aggression and brings about harmony and balance instead.

Amazonite has also been called the Stone of Courage and the Stone of Truth because it empowers people to dig out their inner truth and integrity and to not be afraid of judgment or confrontation they might face in being their true selves. Additionally, it’s a great stone for opening up lines of communication! You have free speech and free thought, and Amazonite wants you to use it. It has been known to enhance communication regarding love and it revives compassion for others, and the ability to look at problems on all sides to better understand how to solve them.

As far as uses for this stone goes, there are many! Amazonite helps aid in overcoming loneliness and there are even reports of it making married life happier. If you feel you work in a negative environment, place some Amazonite at your desk to dispel negative energy and to keep you safe from being taken advantage of.
